Mardaani (2014) – Official Hindi Film Trailer
Mardaani With Female Lead On Board
Story Review:
Rani Mukherji is back with another shocking and stunning role in the movie ‘Mardaani’. One of the much awaited films Mardaani has finally arrived at your nearest theaters. As this is Yash Raj Films Productions, that has tried their level best to portray the character of the women cop and the story behind the human trafficking much more brilliantly. Rani would be the new role model for the women across India, who focuses on the women empowerment. Pradeep Sarkar who is a well known director, who made satirical films and has previously made his mark by giving many of such movies on social issues, is commendable this time as well. The movie has received a positive response by the media as well as the viewers. Looks like the cop flicks in Bollywood , has made a new trend after the last weeks release Singham Returns and this week its Mardaani.
Movie Review:
Having a female as the lead role on board, Rani plays the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy, who is a bold senior inspector in the Mumbai Crime Branch. The movie begins with the arresting of a criminal. Being an honest cop she too handles her family where Jisshu Sengupta has played the role of her husband who is a doctor and a niece. Being an A certificate movie the dialogues and the visualizations are being used very much correctly at the right time according to the right situation. Moreover the search of the girl child Pyari, whom Shivani be on familiar terms with, goes missing, after which her mission begins. She gets all the proofs and leads in Delhi where she vanquishes them. After the death of an agent of the NGO the story behind the missing girl opens up and from there she starts her investigation. The young villain actor, Tahir Bhasin seems to perfect for the natural role that he plays along with a style and is a good foil to the vibrant Rani. The director has intelligently showed how Shivani figures out the villains abode and risks her life in search of Pyari by reaching up to his house all alone. The duration of the film is less than 2hours, while there are no songs being played up in the movie. The movie has few scenes with a skin show, violent and abuse.
The movie somewhat at the end gets over the top, sort of stereotypical and overdramatic, with a message and some facts related to the national issue regarding child trafficking trade pictured on the screen. India is the biggest hub of this trade. Mardaani is somewhat different from any of the masala movies; it is quite intense, serious and dealt on real issues happening around us keeping us aware about them. The movie is about a female central character, which has been played with a lot of energy and spunk Rani, thus it is typical straight-forward movie about a cop on a mission.
Music Review
The movie doesn’t resorts to needless songs which saves the spirited climax number sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The background score which befits the serious, tense nature of the film is given by Julius Packiam.
