Daawat-e-Ishq is Love Story with Cons on One Side
Story Review: Having the characters which are rooting with one’s character in a world that already feels familiar and relatable is half the battle won. Habib Faisal the director of the movie Dawat-e-Ishq has got on his secret yet again. Some of the scenes in the movie having the actors acting not convincible, but when the characters are yet taken into deeply play a great battle in the movie. This movie has successfully woven the Hyderabadi style food into its narratives that includes Kababs, biryanis, Jalebis and phirnis, with all the close-ups on them.
Movie Review: So the story-line of the movie is that, tired of encountering the dowry seeking families and the pathetic forthcoming grooms. The working-class Hyderabadi’s Gulrez (Parineeti Chopra) and her father (Anupam Kher) get into an outlandish plan to get even. This story then takes us to Lucknow, where the strapping kabab-shop heir Tariq (Aditya Roy Kapoor) who gets trapped into the con which Gulrez and her father plan to take a revenge with these dowry drawn people. But when there is con in the movie there should be great chemistry between the actors, similarly the love then starts threatening to derail this carefully planned con slowly. This romance movie between the leading roles feels to be a bit hurriedly and unconvincingly established quickly over a bunch of songs that keeps on playing.
The climax of the move which disclose at the railway platform, has portrayed to be so rushed and well-located that you would never fully get satisfied that the issues between them have been truly set on. The beginning of the movie promises you with more to look forward for but there are certain twists and turns in the second half which requires a complete sacrifice of logic. Moreover the actors into the movie bring onto their A-game to the film, which is glossing over many of the script problems. Parineeti has already played such characters before, while Aditya Roy Kapoor who is a flamboyant than he’s tackled previously, gets the right body language. Anupam Kher gives out the right balance between the both comical and vulnerable, contracted character that feels to be immediately recognizable.
Music Review: The duo Sajid-Wajid has composed the songs of the movie Dawat-e-ishq with the lyricists Kausar Munir. The album which contains with the beginning flavor of the qawali and wedding song, which is sung by Javed Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan has all the impending to grab the overall attention of the audiences. Mannat, which is asong sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, has their own two versions and have given their own appeal Kudos to the Sajid –Wajid for this extraordinary composition. Rangreli sung by Wajid and Shreya Ghoshal is also a well written conversational song. Sharayana sung by Shalmali Kholgade, is an easy going hummable western touch song and a superb voicer it. Jadu tone valiyan sung by Shabab Sabri is the loud song, gives you a sufi feel in it.
